This campsite; situated on the shores of Lake Eyasi (a soda lake at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment), offers romance and comfort. Views across the lake are stunning and behind camp are huge granite boulders that provide spectacular views to enjoy sundowners.
Though this area is isolated and little visited, it is situated conveniently close to the route between some of Northern Tanzania’s most popular National Parks.Operators rushing to and from major wildlife parks sadly underestimate it, but perhaps this is a bonus for Lake Eyasi retains its beauty and exclusivity – unblemished by crowds.
Lake Eyasiboasts awesome scenery and a chance to visit the Hadzabe, one of the last click-speaking hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa. As well as meeting the Hadzabe hunter gather tribe in the bush;there are the Datoga tribesmen, who are traditional blacksmiths. The tribe has sadly dwindled in numbers due to many relocating in townships.
Lake Eyasi also offers swimming, walking, and great bird watching.

Late afternoon is the best time to be in the crater -most people have left and as the light grows soft, animal activity heightens.
This offers spectacular photographic and game viewing opportunities. Late afternoon ascend up the steep wall of the crater, heading for camp.
